Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- A section of stonework in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom has now been entirely removed and replaced with pavement
EPCOT
- This summer will mark another big step in the overhaul of EPCOT with the opening of the new flagship merchandise location, “Creations Shop,” as a rebranding of the MouseGear location
- Adjacent to the new “Creations Shop” announced this morning, a revitalized Club Cool Hosted by Coca-Cola will also open summer 2021
- After a test a few weeks ago, the first “points of light” fixtures have been installed on Spaceship Earth at EPCOT as part of the icon’s new nighttime lighting package
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- The beginnings of a roof were installed overnight at the new Monorail station of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort is beginning a major room refurbishment, limiting availability from April to September 2021 and while some refurbishment began last month, today we see that almost half of the resort’s rooms are now blocked off for the Incredibles overlay to be installed within select rooms
Other Walt Disney World News
- Walt Disney World theme park hours have been extended for almost every day at all four parks through June 19, and park hours have also been released from June 20 through June 26
- The Transportation and Ticket Center is slowly being repainted for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and while the refurbishment began last month with a water fountain, it now continues with one of the poster kiosks
Disneyland Resort
- Disneyland released the ticket calendar for the first two months after the upcoming reopening on April 30, which will be available for booking on Thursday, April 15
- Like its Walt Disney World counterpart, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland will be utilizing a virtual queue upon reopening
- Disney has released more information about all of the distanced character greetings that will be available at the theme parks upon reopening April 30th
- Prior to Disneyland reopening on April 30th, Cast Members and their guests will get access to a special soft opening of the park just for them from April 27-29
Tokyo Disney Resort
- With Tokyo Disneyland now allowing 20,000 Guests to visit the park every day, there’s naturally been a few changes around the park, so we naturally stopped by to visit and check out what’s happening at the Kingdom of Dreams and Magic and bring you this most recent photo report
New Merchandise
- We totally dig this groovy new “Play in the Park” dress at The Dress Shop on Cherry Lane, part of Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs
- Spike the Bee and Figment tumblers recently replaced the original plate prizes for Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt at EPCOT, and now Minnie Mouse and Orange Bird tumblers have joined the redemption lineup as well
Entertainment and Media
- With the launch of 20th Television Animation, we can expect to see Disney developing more animated shows geared towards adults and one series reportedly in development for Hulu is an R-rated Deadpool series starring Ryan Reynolds
