Enchanted Sequel “Disenchanted” Nears Filming, Maya Rudolph Stars as Villain

Disenchanted, the long-awaited sequel to 2007’s Enchanted, will begin filming soon in Ireland. According to Ireland’s Sunday World, Dublin’s RDS will be used for interior scenes. Exterior sets are being constructed in Enniskerry, about 15 miles south of Dublin.

“Enniskerry is being transformed into a ‘Disney wonderland’, with a castle and several other structures being built,” Sunday World wrote.

Sunday World also reports that stars Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are already quarantining in Ireland ahead of the start of principal photography.

In more Disenchanted news, Maya Rudolph is very excited to join the cast. Rudolph is a fan of musical comedies.

“I remember a kind of marriage between music and comedy. Growing up, I do believe there was much more of an understanding that they were from the same place,” Rudolph told Variety.

Rudolph isn’t accustomed to the villain role, but she’s looking forward to playing against Amy Adams’ Giselle.

Giselle is such an unbelievably well-crafted character and so singularly creative. I can’t imagine anyone else carrying that so beautifully and authentically. She’s just otherworldly, you know? It makes it that much more fun. The idea that you’re going to get to play with her is what the joy of it is going to be. There’s some pretty heavy-hitters that I get to join, so I feel very lucky to be invited to the team. It’s very cool.
