Disneyland Removes “Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls” Greeting from Fireworks to Promote Inclusivity

Following Walt Disney World’s latest change to promote inclusivity, Disneyland has also removed the “Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls” greeting from Mickey’s Mix Magic, which returns to the park on July 4.

The greeting will be replaced with “Good evening, friends,” according to Disney.

This change follows Disney’s initiative to promote diversity and inclusiveness in their parks. Recently, “Inclusion” was added as a Fifth Key, used in training Cast Members to represent the tenets of the company.

“We will continue to not only look at the experiences that we have today, update them, and make them relevant and appropriate, but as we build, we will also start to think about all the great stories that we have to tell around the world and bring them to life in a way that everybody again can see themselves,” said Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro in a recent interview with the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
