BREAKING: Disney Reaches Agreement with Unions, Unionized Cast Members Will Be Required to Be Vaccinated Against COVID-19

In a statement released today by the Services Trade Council, it was announced that Disney has reached an agreement with the unions to require Cast Members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Employees with medical conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs will be eligible to apply for an accommodation through a negotiated process. This process ensures prompt processing of requests for accommodation, weekly meetings between the Union and Company to address concerns as they arise, an explanation if any accommodation is denied, and access to the grievance procedure should there be a dispute on the accommodation request. Disney will make every effort to reasonably accommodate employees with a medical or religious accommodation need in their current role or classification. Cast Members who do not comply with the vaccine requirement and do not request a legitimate accommodation, will be separated from the Company with a “yes” rehire status.

In addition to vaccines being readily available, Disney will be hosting on-site vaccine events over the next several weeks. Cast interested in getting vaccinated at work should go on the HUB for more information. Vaccines are safe, effective, and free. As of today, the Pfizer vaccine is FDA approved and is being offered by the Company. Getting vaccinated is the best way for workers to protect themselves from this deadly virus.”

Salaried and non-union Cast Members received 60 days as of July 30, 2021, to become vaccinated. A timeline for the union Cast Members under the new agreement has not yet been released.

    • If everyone was vaccinated, who would they get it from to spread it? :)

Science, it’s like magic, but real!

    • A year and a half into this pandemic and you still need to ask this question? Rather than get your vaccine info from a Disney fan site comment section, why don’t you ask your doctor?

    • Can we please ban this anti vaxxer nut jobs? Please? SO tired of these “so called” experts who get all their information from online blogs and the like.

      1. First of all, you’re making in incorrect assumption. The vaccines do help to prevent transmission, even with Delta. You can’t transmit the virus unless you’re infected, and the vaccines do help reduce the infection rate. We’re hearing a lot about breakthrough infections, but what we’re not hearing about are the millions of vaccinated people that aren’t having breakthrough infections.
      2. The other reason is that the vaccines are also doing a great job of keeping people out of the hospital. Fewer employees going to the hospital means fewer people being off of work for weeks or months, and it means millions of dollars less that health insurance is going to have to pay out. Disney is far from the only company mandating vaccines, it just makes sense to do so from a financial perspective, just like it makes sense for companies to ban smoking and offer incentives for employees to quit smoking, lose weight, and go to the gym.
  1. Is this the part where people start screaming about freedom, while conveniently forgetting the fact that they usually advocate for private businesses to have the freedom to hire or fire whichever employees they like?

    • You’re referring to corporate fascism. The belief that corporations are free to discriminate as much as they choose. See WW2.

    • okay, i’ll bite. so if you say corporations can mandate to you what you must do with your body then can they also force pregnant employees to get an abortion because pregnant women represent a dangerous safety hazard? heard of my body my choice shawn? apparently you have not thought this through very much, have you shawn?

  2. I’ve always loved Disney. My heart will belong to Disney but my pocketbook no longer will. It’s time to move on. For years I’ve ignored the satanic symbolism found in their parks, merchandise and movies. I should have known better. I just pray the child connection isn’t true 😢

  3. I think this is great…but too late. Now, how about the guests? Any true measure of safety for employees abd guests would be to check that all guests are fully vaccinated. The database already exists. Link it to your ticket purchase. Masks do not work outside when you are elbow to elbow with other guests outside. Disney’s “window dressing” mask rules are not designed to keep you safe. It is legal mumbo jumbo that enables them to pack the parks to max capacity.

  4. There are many unions at Disney and the service trades union that made the recent agreement doesn’t represent all the unions, so this information isn’t accurate. My union hasn’t made an announcement yet and is still in negotiations with Disney.
