The original movie premiered in 1991. The film earned nearly $46 million at the box office. It remains a cult classic to this day.

This is not the first time we have reported on a reboot for “The Rocketeer.” Disney was reportedly working on an updated version in 2016. Disney continues to release “The Rocketeer” merchandise, such as pins, from time to time.

  1. Go woke, go broke. Nothing is sacred anymore. If there was anything that didn’t call for woke politics, it is this. Disney needs to stop. I am sick and tired of them ruining every franchise they have.

    • Please explain why a Black lead is causing you so many issues. Hell, the original was a box office bomb. Maybe a new lead and better project won’t be such a bust. Why is something that peaked at “Cult Classic” so sacred to you? Why don’t you just say what you really think, that you don’t like Black people and are a racist.

  2. I love the rocketeer movie. Why can they not re-cast cliff and have some ww2 rocketeer fighting. Nothing wrong with a black hero character, but this seems like a pc woke recast just for the sake of doing it.

  3. There are plenty of people who think that Hollywood simply taking a white character or story with white characters, and changing them/it to black is demeaning. Like why can’t Hollywood be creative an make original stories with black characters?

  4. Lost me! Sucks remember this from childhood and one of the first movies I watched on disney +. Be a Walt fan not a disney fan!

    • I don’t know quite where to begin with this comment. For starters, Walt wasn’t even alive when the original Rocketeer movie came out, so his personal influence had no bearing on its creation. Therefore, using Walt’s name in an attempt to argue your point doesn’t even make sense. Secondly, you’re acting like Disney is making changes to the original movie you remember from childhood, which is not the case. That movie will continue to exist, unchanged, alongside any new movies or series based on it. Your attitude suggests that you won’t even give this new movie a chance when it’s released, based solely on the description alone. I can’t even begin to understand what is so off-putting about this news that it “sucks” so much for you, but it’s happening, with or without the support of your eyeballs. If you want to vent about change, at least have a compelling reason first and pick a better hill to die on. Maybe know a thing or two about Disney history while you’re at it. That would help.
