Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista Bids Farewell to the Marvel Universe

The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie started filming in 2013, and the final installment is set to premiere in 2023. This marks a ten year run for the series. Actor Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, says it is time for him to part ways with Marvel.

“We’re going to wrap it up,” Bautista says. “And it’s been a hell of a journey with a few bumps. So I’m looking forward to this, man. My cast and obviously the director, James Gunn, they’re like family to me. This is kind of where my journey started. It’s come full circle, and I’m looking forward to wrapping it up. And it’s bittersweet.”

Drax’s character has appeared not only in Guardians of the Galaxy Volumes 1 and 2, but also Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Bautista credits Marvel for his Hollywood start, saying the role gave him an opportunity to prove his acting worth.

Since then, Bautista has worked on the 007 franchise, Army of the Dead,” “My Spy,” and also the upcoming “Dune” film.

Fans can catch Bautista as Drax one last time alongside the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride coming to EPCOT.

  1. This makes no sense. He is obviously going to GOTG 3, so of course he hasn’t parted ways with them yet. The movie isn’t even set to film until next year.
