Magic Key Terrace at Disney California Adventure Serves Secret Cocktail Named After Feral Cat

For those who have joined the Disneyland Resort’s Magic Key program, the Magic Key Terrace at Disney California Adventure offers a unique way to kick back and relax with some cocktails and small bites that pay homage to the park’s history. But fans in the know can enjoy a secret cocktail that honors a kind of character not found in any times guide.

According to “The Orange County Register”‘s Brady MacDonald, the lounge, located at Alfresco Tasting Terrace, has a secret, off-menu cocktail called the Nutmeg, named after one of the feral cats that wander the resort and has an affinity for visiting the lounge. As the culinary director of Disney California Adventure, Jeremiah Balogh, explained, “We have lots of friends that like to visit us, and some of them are four-legged friends. We have a resident cat that will come and visit guests and Cast Members whenever he or she feels lonely.”

The Nutmeg (the cocktail, not the cat) is made with Myers dark rum, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, and apricot liqueur and sells for $16.00. It isn’t new, as we reviewed the cocktail in 2020, but it’s nice to know it’s still available.

Hardcore Disneyland fans may know that feral cats have become a staple of the resort’s after-hours operations, helping to control the rat population in the parks and ensuring that the only mice guests see are Mickey and Minnie. The cats are reportedly well cared for, with Disney providing stations for feeding, medical care, and neutering services.

Does a cocktail named after a feral cat sound appealing to you? Have you ever seen Nutmeg (the cat, not the cocktail) roaming the parks? Share your thoughts in the comments!
