Halloween season is here, and that means oodles of new treats at Disneyland. River Belle Terrace is serving up new Pumpkin Spice Monkey Bread and a Chicken & Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich as part of the limited time festivities.
Pumpkin Spice Monkey Bread – $8
The pumpkin spice monkey bread was very soft and tender. There’s plenty of sweet pumpkin sauce to go around. It’s not the best dessert in the park, but it’s excellent monkey bread. It’s among the more subtle pumpkin dishes, with the sweetness and the cinnamon being the chief characteristics. We would get it again.
Chicken & Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich – $25
Brisket grilled cheese, hot chicken, and pickled pepper relish
This dish is a hit and a miss wrapped into one sandwich. The fried chicken is good, pleasantly spicy without being overwhelming. The brisket, on the other hand, is embarrassing. It’s not sliced thin as you would expect for barbecue brisket, but rather chopped into chunks and overcooked. It’s mixed with thin pepperoncini, which is unnecessary as the acidity it brings is redundant with the buffalo sauce. It’s terrible brisket with delightful chicken. Try at your own risk.
