Disney’s upcoming live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” has been given a release date of May 26, 2023, for the Memorial Day weekend.

The film stars Halle Bailey (“Grown-ish”) as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King (“World on Fire”) as Eric, Melissa McCarthy (“Gilmore Girls”) as Ursula, and Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”) as King Triton.

It was originally slated for a 2021 release but was delayed by COVID-19 production halts and positive cases on set.

  1. Live action characters should look like their animated counterparts. I do not like this casting casting.

Also more movies should follow the path George Lucas used on the original Star Wars. Find the perfect person for the role and not just keep picking star power people for everything. The focus should be the character and not the actor on movies like this.
