The Walt Disney Company Donates Over $32,000 to Governor Newsom’s Reelection Campaign

The Walt Disney Company has made a $32,400 donation to the 2022 reelection campaign for California Governor Gavin Newsom, according to Deadline.

This is not the first expression of support for Governor Newsom displayed recently as the Motion Picture Association, of which Disney belongs, has been supporting the governor through the ongoing recall election.

Disney publicly clashed with Governor Newsom while Disneyland Resort remained closed for over a year, with chairman Bob Iger leaving Newsom’s economic recovery task force. Ultimately, Disneyland was able to reopen this past April.

  1. So they are donating money to the man that hamstrung them longer than other theme parks across the country. That had them lose tons of money and keep tons of employees out of work. They are moving jobs out of California to the more business friendly Florida, but want to give money to the man behind the flight from CA.

The brilliant moves by Disney keep on coming.

  2. Do you not see the irony in this? Give him money for his re-election but also being against Biden and the Democrats infrastructure deal? They are on they same team!! You support one but oppose the other? Bring back Michael because whoever is running Disney doesn’t have a clue anymore.

  3. No matter your political persuasion, I think we can all agree that lobbying groups and companies donating to political campaigns is bad for everyone. Makes it so elected officials are indebted to them instead of their voters.

  4. Why would they possibly do this when Newsom was instrumental in destroying so many small businesses and shuttering Disneyland for so long. What is wrong with Disney’s management? So next time anyone goes to Disneyland and have to pay higher ticket prices and per ride charges, just know your money went right to Newsome’s coffers. This sickens me……

  5. Always love Disney, however, it’s decisions like this I just cannot get behind and little by little chips away at the magic. Why anyone would give that man money to govern CA is beyond me, considering southern CA is pretty much destroyed because of him. I’ve seen the footage, heard the testimonies of my family and mates living there and those that left because of everything he let happen; it’s no joke, and $32k just added more fuel to the already burning CA.

  6. I really hate how a company like Disney is getting involved in politics. Even when Disneyland wanted to reopen last year and the governor did not allow theme parks to be open, Disneyland was frustrated by that decision and yet they give him money? Downvote me all you want but it’s the truth.

  7. Well then they deserve every negative thing that happens to them as a result of him being in office. They huge losses they suffered when Disneyland was shuttered for an unnecessarily long time didn’t teach them anything. That was all Newsom, and they know it. Oh well, as long as you both agree killing babies is good, I guess nothing else matters.

  8. Are they nuts?? Disneyland even sued Governor Newsom for keeping it closed for so long and keeping so many restrictions on the state of California. What are they thinking?

  9. Gavin Newsom is not engaged in a reelection campaign. He is attempting to survive a recall, which is very different from reelection.
