Horror Effects Sculptor Jasper J. Anderson Gives Behind the Scenes Look at ‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’

Jasper J. Anderson is a special effects makeup artist and sculptor with credits including The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, X-Men: Apocalypse, Call of Duty live action commercials, and AMPM’s Toomgis, among many others. And he has a special connection to Disney as well, being tapped by the company to faithfully recreate The Haunted Mansion’s coffin in the conservatory for the 50th anniversary of the attraction, as well as making a lightsaber for Disney based on an unused sketch from Star Wars concept designer Ralph McQuarrie.

When Disney mounted a production melding Muppets and The Haunted Mansion, it was the perfect crossroads for Anderson, who had been working for Jim Henson’s Creature Shop for the last several years. Anderson was tapped by Production Designer Darcy Prevost to join the art department as a Visual Consultant on “Muppets Haunted Mansion” where he blended the styles of the Imagineers who brought The Haunted Mansion to (after)life, with the humor that the Henson characters are known for.

Anderson has recently taken to Instagram to share some behind the scenes looks at his work.
