Magic Kingdom
- The Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebrations are officially underway, and the Magic Kingdom kicked off the day with a festive welcome show.
- Guests today at the Magic Kingdom were able to pick up a complimentary commemorative poster celebrating the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.
- In honor of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World today, guests at Magic Kingdom were also able to pick up a commemorative map listing some of the special October 1 offerings.
- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Magic Kingdom, Mickey Mouse and his friends got together on a big parade float and took their dance party all over the park to share their excitement for the occasion in a new cavalcade.
- Guests entering Magic Kingdom this morning for the park’s 50th anniversary were greeted with a nostalgic surprise beneath the Main Street, U.S.A. train station as many of the posters in the entrance tunnels have been replaced with vintage 1970s posters.
- Of course, we had to stop by The Friar’s Nook today for three items in honor of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
- In addition to the new popcorn box celebrating Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary comes a new disposable cup and paper wrapper for the occasion.
- When we saw the list of 50th anniversary treats coming to Walt Disney World on October 1, we knew we would have to try the Uncle Orville Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Sundae as soon as possible.
- The classic Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar has a new wrapper featuring the 50th anniversary logo and Mickey himself.
- We’ve been reviewing a lot of sugary 50th anniversary treats at Walt Disney World today, but if you’re in the mood for an actual meal, Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom has some options inspired by The Haunted Mansion.
- In honor of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, three new treats inspired by opening day attraction Tropical Serenade — now known as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room — are available at Aloha Isle Refreshments in Magic Kingdom.
- Disney informed guests via My Disney Experience that all viewing locations on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom were full for viewing the debut of “Disney Enchantment” tonight.
EPCOT
- Though many guests already got to experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure during previews, the attraction and the France Pavilion expansion didn’t officially open at EPCOT until today, October 1.
- The Marketplace lineup at the 2021 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is nearly complete, as Belgium has finally opened.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- A new 50th anniversary sandwich cookie celebrates the park’s history with its main icons over the years.
- At Backlot Express, we picked up the Glimmer and Shimmer Blondie, which is also available at Fairfax Fare.
- Two 50th anniversary cocktails are available at Sunshine Day Bar on Sunset Boulevard.
- Walt Disney World is celebrating its 50th birthday today, and as part of the celebrations, we stopped by Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see the Hollywood Tower Hotel (home to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction) transform into a Beacon of Magic.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we picked up the 50th Anniversary Celebration Cupcake, which is available at Creature Comforts, Flame Tree Barbecue, and Restaurantosaurus.
- Over at Creature Comforts, we found a few new sweets, including this play on the classic Mickey Mouse name in dessert form.
- Among the over 150 treats celebrating Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary are some twists on classic snacks including a 50th anniversary version of the famous Mickey premium bar, now available at Drinkwallah.
- We found a 50th anniversary gourmet cupcake in the bakery case at Zuri’s Sweet Shop.
- We tried the Chili-Lime Caramel Corn Mix in a new Disney KiteTails souvenir popcorn bucket.
- We rounded out our night at Animal Kingdom with a visit to the Tree of Life to watch it transform into a Beacon of Magic.
Disney Springs
- Last night at Disney Springs, we noticed the Walt Disney World buses are flashing new festive destination signs for the occasion.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- We started our morning with the EARidescent Sip-a-Bration, a non-alcoholic cocktail with a twist.
- Steakhouse 71 has opened at Disney’s Contemporary Resort as part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” honoring Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary; join us for a tour of the new restaurant.
- Walt Disney World Resort hotels have a new refillable mug available in honor of the resort’s 50th anniversary.
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort opened on October 1, 1971, alongside the Magic Kingdom, and we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary with breakfast from the new Steakhouse 71 inside the hotel.
Other Walt Disney World News
- In a new video from Disney Parks, Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle thanks guests and Cast Members for 50 years of magical memories at the resort, reciting some Roy O. Disney’s words from Magic Kingdom’s opening.
- All PhotoPass pictures taken at Walt Disney World today, October 1, are free to download in honor of the resort’s 50th anniversary.
- A new way to compliment Walt Disney World Cast Members has debuted on the My Disney Experience app.
- A new Walt Disney World Annual Pass design debuted today at the resort and, as one may expect, it is tied into the 50th anniversary celebration.
- Park Hopping was not available to Magic Kingdom this afternoon.
- New park maps have debuted at all four Walt Disney World theme parks celebrating the 50th anniversary of the resort.
New Merchandise
- Among the many new offerings available is a 50th anniversary balloon.
- We got this new Minnie Mouse sipper at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café.
- For anyone who isn’t able to head down to Orlando, shopDisney has a way to bring the celebration home to you with a Limited Release gift box packed full of pins, buttons, paper reproductions, Minnie ears, and even a snow globe, all to celebrate the last 50 years of Walt Disney World.
- A new Anniversary Collection of merchandise for the 50th debuted today as well at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
- A D23-exclusive collection of “Muppets Haunted Mansion” merchandise by Mickey’s of Glendale will be launching in two phases on October 4 and October 11.
- In honor of the grand opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, EPCOT has a ton of new “Ratatouille” merchandise, including limited release and limited edition pins celebrating opening day.
The Walt Disney Company
- To give back to the community that welcomed them 50 years ago, Disney has announced $3,000,000 in donations to Central Florida organizations.
