REVIEW: Celebrate Life Day With the Tarkenian Nightflower Cocktail and Kaadu Pork Belly Slider Skewer From Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

Bright suns and happy Life Day! The celebrations have begun at Black Spire Outpost at Disneyland. Oga’s Cantina is offering two Life Day specials: the Tarkenian Nightflower cocktail and Kaadu Pork Belly Slider Skewer.

Oga’s Cantina was packed. If you are uncomfortable with being shoulder-to-shoulder with maskless guests, you may want to avoid the cantina.

The Tarkenian Nightflower was a drink first seen in “Rebel Dawn,” a Legends-era novel about Han Solo written by A. C. Crispin in 1998.

This is a very strong drink. A lot of fun, but very syrupy. It’s heavy with lime and ginger. The best way to describe it is a thick gin drink. It’s fine, but we probably won’t be back for more.

Kaadu Pork Belly Slider Skewer – $15

Pork belly between Bao Buns with Zucchini sauce, Calabrian compote, and Za’atar.

Similar to the Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs, these are allegedly made with meat from the creatures ridden by Jar Jar Binks and the other Gungans in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” (Spoiler: they are actually made with regular Earth pork.)

These are fantastic. Sadly ours didn’t slide off, but the people around us seemed to manage. The pork is tender and flavorful. The sauce brings a lot of heat, but a flavorful spice. The buns were perfectly cooked, very soft. We highly recommend these.
