REVIEW: New Pastrami Reuben and Chocolate Marshmallow Funnel Cake Fries are Naughty and Nice at Award Wieners in Disney California Adventure

With the holiday festivities already underway at Disney California Adventure, Award Wieners is getting in on the fun with two new items that are naughty and nice!

Pastrami Reuben — $15.49

Thinly-sliced Pastrami with Caramelized Onions, Pickled Cabbage, Thousand Island, Spicy Mustard, Provolone, and Pickle Spear on a toasted Baguette served with Cuties Mandarin Orange or Filmstrip Fries

First off, this thing is really spicy. The menu says it has spicy mustard, but we found it way spicier than that.

There are also jalapenos in here that they don’t mention on the menu, and maybe that adds to the spiciness of the mustard, but it’s just way too much for this sandwich. It blows everything else out.

We couldn’t taste much beyond the briny pickle and the whole grain mustard; then the spice takes over. It’s also just a gigantic sandwich that’s almost laughably big when you’re eating it. I guess you’re getting your money’s worth, but make sure to bring Tupperware.

Chocolate Marshmallow Funnel Cake Fries — $8.99

Cinnamon-Cocoa dusted Churro Fries, drizzled Marshmallow, Whipped Cream and Chocolate Sauce

We wound up liking this. It’s got the usual crispy funnel cake fries as always, but we appreciated they weren’t as sweet as the usual seasonal offerings, and not
covered in fake tasting frosting with weirdly-dyed colors like usual.

We didn’t get a lot of marshmallow flavor, with the cocoa giving it more of a cookies and cream taste, but we weren’t upset about that.

Overall, these were the winning item here.
