Whenever the holidays come to Disneyland, they’re always accompanied by plenty of treats worthy of Santa Claus himself! This year, four new mini-pies similar to the famed Jack-Jack Cookie Num-Nums over at Disney California Adventure have made their way to Disneyland, but with a couple of holiday twists that we just had to try.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie Pie — $5.99
One of the big benefits of this one is that the cookie is mostly peanut butter, which means the chocolate icing on top can be spread and mixed as you see fit, perfect for those that aren’t the biggest fans of the peanut butter-chocolate combo. Many Disneyland cookies are very hard and dense—good flavor but hard texture. But this one is so wonderfully soft. The thickness of the cookie being made in the pie dish really brings a fluffy body to it. Absolutely delicious, we were big fans of this one.
Raspberry White Chocolate Cookie Pie — $5.99
This one was good, but not the best one. It felt like one of the other cookies you could get out of the case. It’s denser, less fluffy and unfortunately the flavor isn’t as strong as you would expect. The white chocolate is very delicate and the small hint of raspberry is just enough to get the idea that it’s there but it’s definitely not raspberry forward. Overall kind of just okay. You won’t be blown away but it’s not terrible either.
Chocolate Peppermint Brownie Pie — $6.49
This one is certainly the better of the two brownies. Like the Triple Chocolate Brownie Pie, this has a goopy texture as well, but it’s better without so many chocolate chips getting in the way. The slight bit of crunch from the candy cane on top is a welcome addition and provides just a hint of peppermint flavor without being overpowering. Overall, this is a much more palatable and easy to eat brownie than the other offering but still not as good as the two cookie pies.
Triple Chocolate Brownie Pie — $6.49
Finally, this brownie pie is thick and goopy. Not quite dense, just goopy. Almost like an underdone texture without any of the brownie batter “raw” flavor. It’s an interesting combination of lots of chocolate, slightly crunchy chocolate chips and a velvety texture holding it all together. It’s also very decadent, easy to share among two or even three people. And while the flavor is great, the texture may be a hurdle for some to deal with.
