Disney Genie & Genie+ Fare Far Better on Second Day Following Disastrous Launch at Disneyland Resort

In spite of the disastrous first day of Disney Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane at the Disneyland Resort involving long lines at Guest Relations, Attraction Recovery Passes, and eventually refunds, it seems like the system is settling in well on its second day of service.

Far removed from the troubles of yesterday, the Disney Genie service experienced no downtime today, and thankfully worked as intended the entire day. Wait times stayed fairly low, and we certainly felt like less guests were using Genie+ and Lightning Lane than yesterday.

For the whole day, immediate bookings were available at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. We were able to book instant return times for it’s a small world Holiday, Space Mountain, and Indiana Jones Adventure (which went down and was converted to a Multiple Experience Pass), then Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT after park hopping was allowed. Every single attraction save for those in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge could be booked for an instant return time.

Individual Lightning Lane selections didn’t sell out for the entire day at either park, and in fact instant return times could also be purchased for Radiator Springs Racers and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure as of this evening. Bookings for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ended early due to Disney Merriest Nites today.

Overall, we’re rather pleased with how the second day of Disney Genie has gone at the Disneyland Resort. While the gloomy weather and occasional rain may have helped keep some of the crowds at bay, we certainly hope this also means Disney has ironed out the major issues that plagued the system at launch, and that future guests will be able to use the service relatively hassle-free.
