Disneyland Cast Members Left Waiting for Medical Pay as COVID-19 Cases Rise

Workers United Local 50, one of the unions representing Disneyland Cast Members, has reported that “response time” on COVID-19 related medical pay is currently delayed.

Full-time and select part-time Cast Members qualify for up to two weeks of pay for missed shifts if they have a confirmed case of COVID-19. The union advises that “To receive pay cast may be required to submit documentation. The Disney COVID team should submit all necessary forms, and we recommend that cast request pay be submitted when talking with a Disney representative.”

Disney is reportedly aware of the delays and is “placing more resources to help with the problem.” Until the problem is resolved, Cast Members may be stuck waiting for their compensation.

  1. Interesting how the union (in typical fashion) is handing off the problem to the CM and Disney! This is exactly what unions are for, to handle all of this! This is why you are forced to pay high dues to unions so they actually do something!
That being said….. The time delay is normal and always has been.
Years ago when I requested paid family leave (when my daughter was born) I did indeed get every penny due to me, but it did take a few weeks to process it all. Keep in mind it is not just the company hading off this money, it is also all the admin with local and state depts. they go through so they as well may get a tax credit back (which is fair).
