Lunar New Year Preparations, New ‘Onward’ Gondola, and More: Disney California Adventure Photo Report 1/20/22

Hey there, hi there, ho there! We stopped by Disney California Adventure today to check out the first of the Lunar New Year food specials and see what else we could find. Join us for this photo report from Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort.

The Lunar New Year Festival doesn’t officially start until tomorrow, but a lot of the decorations were already in place. This info kiosk lets us know what will be in store for the festival.

The character meet-and-greet area is also set up, awaiting the arrival of Mulan, Mushu, the Three Little Pigs, and more.

The food booths, however, are closed.

A sign in the window is very clear that there will be no soft openings today.

That applies to the booths only, however. Paradise Gardens Grill has begun serving their Lunar New Year menu and we stopped by to give it a shot.

The Green Tea Parfait, Spicy Kung Pao Tofu, Tiger Milk Tea and Soju Cocktail are all new this year, and we sampled them all. Take a look at our full review right here.

The Hollywood Lounge also debuted a series of new Lunar New Year-inspired cocktails, and we tried a bit of each of them. Don’t forget to read our full review!

While not related to the Lunar New Year festival, we also tried the new Coffee Kahlua Bundt Cake at Joffrey’s Cappuccino Cart. You can read our full review of this cake right here.

After all that food, we stopped over for a quick ride on the Pixar Pal-A-Round and we noticed a pair of brothers had made their way onto a gondola.

Ian and Barley from “Onward” can now be found on one of the swinging gondolas on the massive Ferris wheel.

And being up on top of the wheel affords some fantastic views of the surrounding area, including the work being done on the World of Color fountains.

Thanks for riding along with us. We’ll see ya real soon!
