Disney Parks Capacity Remains Limited Due to Shortage of Food & Beverage Staff and Entertainment Offerings

During today’s 2022 Q1 earnings call, Disney noted that the capacity of both Walt Disney World and Disneyland is still limited, but rather than due to COVID-19 safety measure constraints, it is now due to staff shortages.

Specifically, it was noted that Food & Beverage departments are suffering shortages, particularly for short-order cooks. Reduced entertainment is also affecting capacity as many shows have yet to return, which help manage capacity by reducing the number of guests out wandering the parks at one given time.

Disney has been advertising hiring bonuses of up to $6,000 to recruit new Cast Members, with cook and chef positions offering $3,000 – $6,000 for various roles.

  1. Hopefully more Entertainment comes back sooner with the help of more disney world auditions popping up and more CP waves coming too!

  2. I was going to apply to work there, but the vaccination requirements that they keep floating around and the mandatory masking has kept me from visiting, let alone applying. I’m not the only one.

  3. yep, guess the rest of the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort cast members and all of the entertainment really need to return ASAP.

  4. On Monday, February 7th, Hollywood Studios alone, simultaneously, had 5 rides with wait times of over 100 minutes (and there were 5 other rides over 100 in the other three parks). If capacities really are still limited, there will be nothing pleasant about visiting these parks when capacity returns to “normal”.

  5. It is also because disney wants to keep their guests and employees safe so sorry that seems to not be everyone 1st priority in a pandemic with millions dead and others in hospitals! We have to come together disney just doing their part unlike other parks who do not care and almost every day has a scare (in the beginning areas were shut down at other parks you wonder why? It wasnt staff shortage thats for sure!)

  6. If park capacity is limited, then why are there long lines and wait times? As park capacity returns to normal, wait times and lines will get much longer.

Have fun and enjoy thee new Disney Experience …

  7. I actually known something. See during the Cast Members were unemployed due to the pandemic they had to get other jobs, and when they began hiring Cast Members and asked those to come back, some couldn’t because they were busy with the other job. You have to know that Cast Members can either be full time or part time.

  8. I just got back from Disney world, and the parks we’re very crowded. So, if they are limiting capacity, I didn’t see it.

  9. What a crock Disney. I was there on 2/8/22 and it was PACKED TO THE HILT. Waaaay busier than this time last year. Blowing’ smoke. This new CEO is the worst they ever had. Money grabber through and through

  10. We are planning a trip to Disneyland in March. While I understand the shortage of staff regarding Covid restrictions, why are the tickets still full price? We visited Disneyworld in November of 2021 and several restaurants and rides were shut down. I think Disney should lower the ticket fare for that reason.

  11. My family and I are going to WDW in May. I know it will be crowded but my mantra is to remain “chill” and not fret over lines and wait times. I go to enjoy the parks and atmosphere and immerse myself in the creativity of the Imagineers. Yes, we will enjoy ALL the great attractions, but it is also important not to stress. Enjoy the WDW experience at your own pace.
