President’s Day Crowds, Refurbishments, Festival Booths & More: Disneyland Resort Photo Report 2/21/22

Hey there, hi there, ho there! We headed down to the Disneyland Resort to check in on the many ongoing construction and refurbishment projects and we want you to come along. Join us as we hit both parks in a grand circle tour.

It sure was a crowded one today. President’s Day is a great time to get off work, but a rough time to get in line. We do hear, however, that Disneyland is the “Most Patriotic Place on Earth.”

Refurbishment on the Crystal Arcade is ongoing, but the shop is still open inside. Let’s see what we can find.

Amethyst Minnie Ear Headband

These shiny new amethyst Minnie ears are perfectly purple.

And for showing your Disneyland pride, these Sleeping Beauty Castle Minnie ears are an understated, classy approach.

There’s even a matching t-shirt, as seen above, socks, as seen below, and more in the collection to compliment the ears. You can read all about it right here.

If you’re as ready for Spring Break 2022 as we are, then this t-shirt is for you.

Joining the 2022 branded merchandise collection is this cute little snow globe which has floating Disneyland confetti inside.

For the hardest working princess in town, this new Tiana loungewear set is a must-have.

A new Dooney & Bourke set of bags dropped today at Disney Clothiers, which feature Mickey Mouse’s very first picture, “Steamboat Willie.

Despite the crowds, we sure had a wonderful day at the park.

Checking in on some refurbishment activity, Tarzan’s Treehouse is still covered in scaffolding and other than the crow’s nest being removed, there isn’t much to see that is different from last time we stopped by.

Toontown, however, is making changes almost daily. The hills in the distance are rapidly being put in place, cemented, and painted with primer.

The massive show building will house Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which we recently learned will have some “enhancements” that the Florida iteration of the attraction doesn’t have.

While we’re in the area, we enjoyed a walk around the houses of Mickey’s Neighborhood. This will all close on March 8 to be reimagined and become more interactive.

Continuing our refurb updates, the Mark Twain is currently having some work done.

It is parked at the dock, with scaffolding and scrim raised.

Some areas can be seen where work is being done, refurbishing or replacing pieces of wood that have worn over time.

The Rivers of America are also being refurbished as they prepare for the May 28 return of Fantasmic!

Meanwhile, Splash Mountain is winding down its refurbishment as scaffolding is removed. The skies are moody, but the future looks bright for the refurbished ride.

In the Fantasyland Theatre, Celebrate Gospel has returned. With brightly colored backdrops and photo ops, this looks like a fun event before guests even reach their seats.

The theatre, which has been closed since the pandemic began, has had some refurbishments recently and removed much of the set decoration from “Mickey and the Magical Map,” which will not be returning.

Disney California Adventure

Grizzly River Run is also down for a refurbishment. Construction materials and scaffolding are stacked in the now drained waterways of the attraction.

The World of Color fountains are submerged once again as work continues on installing the projector boxes along the back edge of Paradise Bay.

Mr. Potato Head is back behind curtains once again. He just can’t seem to catch a break.

This floral Minnie ear headband sprouted up over here at Los Feliz Five & Dime. You can read all about it right here.

The big news at DCA today is the Food & Wine Festival booths being set out.

The booths have some really cool art on the sides of them.

And this Avocado Time booth even has a real working clock to show us that it really is time for avocados.

Downtown Disney

Haunted Mansion Candle

We found a lot of new merchandise in World of Disney here in Downtown Disney. This Haunted Mansion candle is super cool, and it’s joined by a much larger collection of Disney-themed candles, below.

The elusive Mickey balloon sipper is available in World of Disney, if you can find it before it’s snatched up for the day.

We also found a pair of new tiny bags celebrating the princesses, perfect for any dress up tea parties one may be attending.

The far end of Downtown Disney is closed now as the buildings are set to be torn down to become a new open space.

You can see many more photos and read all about it right here.

Well, that’s it from us here at Disneyland. We’re glad you rode along. Be sure to leave a comment below, letting us know what you think of the photo report. We’ll see ya real soon!
