Mickey-shaped Valentine Cookie – $9

This is the standard Disneyland shortbread that they trot out at every holiday and festival not only at this holiday cart in the Grand Californian Hotel, but also in bakery cases across the resort.

It’s a standard shortbread cookie — hard, crumbly, and fairly sweet. The icing on top, which seems more ample on this Valentine’s cookie than it was on some of the previous iterations we had at other holidays, gives it a creamy sweet edge.

This cookie hits home and satisfies the craving for a classic sweet treat, but it’s not pushing any boundaries or trying to be anything inventive. It looks great on social media and the flavor is adequate but not amazing.

Heart-shaped Linzer Cookie – $9

This is a linzer-style cookie — two heart-shaped shortbreads rolled thinner and crispier, with raspberry jam sandwiched in between them.

The cookies themselves, being thinner and crispier than the traditional shortbread, are even more enjoyable with a heartier crunch, and the raspberry jam brings a bright pop of fruit flavor in between them that sets this apart from the other cookies being offered at the table.

While not quite the best seasonal cookie we’ve had at Disneyland, it definitely is among the upper echelon of cookies of this type.

With a Mickey-shaped window in the top cookie to reveal the jam, and pink and white icing on top, this cookie looks great on a social media feed and tastes great to boot. We highly recommend this cookie if you visit the Grand Californian Hotel holiday cart.
