Mardi Gras, Stan Lee Honored, Spring is Sprung & More: Disneyland Resort Photo Report 3/1/22

Hey there, hi there, ho there! We headed down to the Disneyland Resort to see what March will bring, as we inch closer to the opening of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, and we want you to come along. Join us as we hit both parks in a grand circle tour.

Minnie Mouse Flower Bed Disneyland Womens Month 1

The first thing we saw when we got into the park is that the iconic Mickey flower bed in front of the train station has been transformed into an iconic Minnie flower bed for Women’s History Month.

Minnie features her classic bow and eyelashes, which set her apart from Mickey.

But never fear, Mickey is never too far away at Disneyland.

China Closet Refurb Disneyland 1

The China Closet is still under refurbishment, with its themed scrim covering all the way up to the roof.

Disneyland Mill Shop Workers

Disneyland Mill Shop workers could be seen atop the scaffolding.

What a lovely day it was for park-going, albeit rather warm.

And the crowds were out in full force today.

Hawkeye beanie

Inside the Emporium, we found a pair of new hats. This Hawkeye beanie may make the wearer resemble the classic Marvel super villain Bullseye more than the hero Hawkeye, but it’s a cool cap nonetheless.

Doctor Strange hat 1

This Doctor Strange baseball hat features the Eye of Agamotto on the front, and a bird design on the underside of the bill. Could this be a meaningful symbol in the new film due in theaters on May 6, 2022?

Wishables Keychains Disneyland

We also spotted a collection of rubber Wishables keychains, which will stand up to being thrown in a purse or backpack a little better than a tiny plush would.

Disneyland photo album

Saving all your Disneyland memories has never looked more fashionable thanks to this Disneyland Resort photo album, which matches the larger Sleeping Beauty Castle collection of apparel and accessories.

Disneyland sweatshirt 1

Also part of that same collection is this new sweatshirt, with a pattern print design featuring some of the artwork that is incorporated into Sleeping Beauty Castle itself.

Original Mickey Mouse long sleeve shirt

This new Original Mickey long sleeved t-shirt is similar to the cream colored short sleeved t-shirt that is all the rage right now.

Plaza Point Easter Display Disneyland

Across the street at Plaza Point, the main display honors Easter and May Day, with a classic May pole, bunnies, eggs in baskets, and more. Spring is definitely here.

Even the personalized display ears are ready to welcome Easter.

With such beautiful weather, walking all over the park is a dream. Blue skies and sunshine, guaranteed.

Jungle Cruise Disneyland

As we made our way past the World-Famous Jungle Cruise, we noticed that there is a tiny jungle boat model in the upstairs window. Cute!

New Orleans Square Mardi Gras

Here in New Orleans Square, it’s Mardi Gras every day. But today is extra special because it’s Mardi Gras everywhere else too. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

At the stroller parking lot in front of Pirates of the Caribbean, we can see just how crowded it is with Mardi Gras revellers.

Rivers of America work for Fantasmic 1

From the top deck of the Mark Twain, we got a great look at all the work being done to prepare for the return of Fantasmic! on May 28. We can’t wait.

There’s definitely still a lot of work going on here, with scaffolding all over and three drained sections of the Rivers of America to accommodate refurbishments.

Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island from Mark Twain

We noticed that during the refurbishment of Tom Sawyer Island, the rafts that ferry guests from New Orleans Square over to the island are taking the long way around. This is an opportunity we couldn’t pass up, so we hopped aboard a raft and went for a grand circle tour of Tom Sawyer’s Island.

Tarps for refurb in Frontierland Disneyland 1

Back on dry land, we made our way to Frontierland, where a pair of tarps are being protected by stantions and Cast Members are directing traffic around them.

Splash Mountain is still closed for refurbishment, but the flume is refilled and the logs are running again, albeit without passengers.

It seems that reopening could be any time now.

Life Day mug 1

Way off on Batuu, we found a mug that commemorates Life Day. It is the same mug that arrived in Batuu East (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World) around the actual time of Life Day, but it hadn’t made its way out to us until now.

Pint sized green milk Disneyland

And when stopping off for a signature cold treat in Black Spire Outpost, we noticed that the milks from the Milk Stand are now served in pint glasses, due to a supply shortage of the smaller cups. We don’t mind the extra abundant treat one bit.

Merlins Marvellous Miscellany shop window Disneyland 3

In Fantasyland, Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellany has a new front window display. The shop, which has yet to open, is finally showing signs of life.

Can you spot the only-somewhat-hidden Mickey?

Mickeys Toontown Entrance Empty Disneyland Stock

In Mickey’s Toontown, the clock is counting down to the end. The land will close for reimagining in one week’s time, on March 8. We’re getting in as much quality time as we can right now.

It’s so peaceful before the crowds take hold.

Even before the land closes, construction steams along at a quick pace.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage const walls 1

In Tomorrowland, it seems like the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage may miss its projected opening. Signs that were hung on the construction walls here at one time had said “Resurfacing Winter 2022.” But seeing as there are only 20 days left in Winter 2022 and the lagoon is still drained with scaffolding still erected, it likely won’t make its timely reopening.

The construction walls still have the character port holes, but the other signs have been removed.

DCA FW Booths 2

The big news at DCA is the preparations for the upcoming Food and Wine Festival, which begins this weekend. The booths are out and ready to go, just awaiting the go-ahead from the Cast Members.

The Hollywood Pictures Backlot refurbishments continue to move down the street, now being in front of the restrooms and Award Wieners.

Avengers Campus DCA
Spider Man ballcap

And in Avengers Campus, we found this super cool new Spider-Man baseball hat, perfect for the Webhead himself or any of his fans.

Stan Lee Dedication Plaque Avengers Campus DCA 1

At the entrance to the Campus, a beautiful tribute to Stan Lee has been dedicated.

Stan Lee Dedication Plaque Avengers Campus DCA 2

The plaque was quietly installed the other day with no fanfare other than a blog post from the Disney Parks Blog.

While we were here, we noticed that the guests who stopped by to read the plaque and say a few words seemed to be more reverent and reflective than guests in other areas of the park. It is a place to honor Stan Lee and say thank you for all of his creations and what they mean to all of us, and without enforcing this on anyone, it seems that the guests just picked up on it and were very respectful of it. This was a sweet moment for us in our day.

DCA Christmas trees in March

Thankfully, our favorite year-round Christmas trees are still floating here. We are so glad to see them on every visit, and we hope they never leave.

Well, that’s it from us here at Disneyland. We’re glad you rode along. Be sure to leave a comment below, letting us know what you think of the photo report. We’ll see ya real soon!
