Disneyland Resort Won’t Use Lightning Lane for Character Meet and Greets

As the Disneyland Resort prepares to welcome back non-distanced character meet and greets next week, it’s been revealed that guests using Disney Genie+ won’t be able to book reservations using the service, according to The Orange County Register‘s Brady MacDonald.

The news comes as a break from what Walt Disney World has done with the service. Currently, guests can book from select meet and greets, including with Mickey Mouse at the Town Square Theater, and with various Disney Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall, both in the Magic Kingdom. This doesn’t affect the current Disney Genie+ offerings, which grants Lightning Lane access for select attractions at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

Monday will mark the first time guests will be able to get up close with characters since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Since the resort reopened, all characters have appeared physically distanced, at least six feet away from guests.
