‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Makes $450 Million for Opening Weekend Global Box Office

The newest installment of Phase IV of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has arrived with the premiere of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” this past weekend, and the numbers are starting to come in. It net over $450 million at the global box office, with $185 in the United States alone, according to Variety.

While it falls short of the record-breaking $587 million garnered by “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” it still stacks up as the fourth largest Marvel debut and the 6th largest opening weekend box office of all time.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the eponymous lead alongside Elizabeth Olsen, reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Xochitl Gomez makes her MCU debut as America Chavez.
