Sony Hoping Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Director Jon Watts Return For More ‘Spider-Man’ Movies

In a new interview with Deadline, Sony Chairman Tom Rothman said they are working on the next “Spider-Man” movie starring Tom Holland and hoping to bring back director Jon Watts and Zendaya. Producer Amy Pascal previously mentioned another “Spider-Man” trilogy featuring Holland, and Disney and Sony later confirmed they are developing the character’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rothman also mentioned that two “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse” sequels are in development.

Talking about Sony’s franchises, Rothman said, “There are the ‘Spider-Man’ movies, and we’re currently at work on two ‘Spider-Verse’ sequels to our Oscar-winning animated movie, with Lord and Miller. We hope to get working on the next Spider-Man movie.”

Deadline asked if Jon Watts, Tom Holland, and Zendaya would return. Rothman said, “That whole group, we hope.”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” wrapped up the “Homecoming” trilogy, but there are plenty more avenues to explore for Peter Parker. What are you hoping to see in more Spider-Man films?

  1. They could go the route of the insomniac games and have Peter train miles. That way Tom Holland could still do other projects/have time off, while still staying relevant to the franchise. Also, introduce spider Gwen and have them cross over with into the spider verse. Just me spit balling ideas.

  2. Yaaayyyy! I fervently hope that the two award-winning actors, Tom and Zendaya, reprise their roles in Spider Man 4 and beyond. And that Jon Watts returns and lets MJ complete her character arc, becoming more positive and hopeful -smiling, dancing (maybe as a cheerleader). She’s Peter’s brilliant lab partner at University, if canon is followed. The great TV Spider Man cartoon from several years ago, featured Michelle Jones (MJ) who is Peter Parker’s brilliant lab partner and good friend.
