REVIEW: Incredible Rum-Flavored Pirate P-arrr-fait From French Market at Disneyland

The French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland is serving up a new parfait: a pirate p-arrr-fait, that is.

This was absolutely delicious. Rum baba is a dish we had never tried before and we are hooked. It’s almost like a dinner roll but fluffier and soaked in vanilla rum syrup. Not real rum, but cooked-down or rum-flavored syrup.

Atop that is a rum mousse which, although it didn’t taste like rum, was still very pleasant and melded well with the baba. The decorations on top included a beach on the water, flecked with chocolate gold nuggets, and an X marking the spot with a white chocolate pirate Mickey flag.

Everything worked together, making for a well-balanced dish that was just sweet enough without being overpowering. It would be perfect as a dessert at the end of a meal or as a standalone sweet treat.

Our reporter, Charly Shelton, has more thoughts on the new dessert and shares a beautiful view in our YouTube video review, which you can watch right here:
