Diamond G Ranch, which is about 17 miles west of Dubois and 23 minutes from Yellowstone National Park, is now available on the real estate market. The ranch’s previous owners were Walt Disney and family, and current owner is Stephen M. Gordon, who purchased from Disney in the 1980s.

Before the Disney family took over Diamond G Ranch, owners of Morton Salt Company used the area as a hunting camp.

in 1968, Retlaw Enterprises purchased the ranch from Morton Salt Company. Retlaw is “Walter” spelled backward, and became accessible to the Disney family.

The ranch is constructed with a private road, with no public access, surrounded by three sides of wilderness to get away. It is 5,000 acres and surrounded by Shoshone National Forest on each of those three sides.

The property contains a five-bedroom lodge, a log guest house with an enclosed porch, and two log cabins.

Wildlife such as elk, deer, antelope, mountain lion, and wolverine can all be spotted on this unique property. Check out this video of different stills of the ranch below!

  1. Wow! What a gorgeous piece of property. I vould live there in a heartbeat. Beautiful place to get away from it all.

  2. I worked there one summer when it was owned by Disney – Private is an understatement. The beauty speaks for itself. Ice cold spring water everywhere ! just jump off your horse and drink it. I lived there BTG – (before the Griz) Today – You have to be bear smart or you could get into trouble. The current owner has done a magnificent job preserving the ranch and historical look. No 20,000 sq ft red metal indoor riding arena – No obnoxious Texas style buildings that ALL these trophy ranches suffered in the 1990’s This is the # 1 Ranch in America in my opinion – Not a major production ranch as the 7300 ft elevation limits, but as a recreational / cattle / horse ranch – you will not find a nicer one. Organic grass hay – you got it.
