More ‘Haunted Mansion’ Movie Details Revealed at D23 Expo

The new “Haunted Mansion” film from director Justin Simien has debuted a trailer during the “Studio Showcase Day 1: Celebrate the Magic of Disney and Pixar” panel at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA. Director Justin Simien took to the stage to speak about the project and detail some of the cameos audiences can expect from Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, Hasan Minhaj and more.

The trailer then debuted “for the room only,” and hasn’t been made available online as yet. A description of the trailer from Deadline follows:

“[The trailer] watches as a car pulls up to a mansion in the depths of night. The mansion, our narrator says, was discovered fully built after a fire in 1788. ‘That’s when things started to get weird,’ he continues, ‘[with] a string of dramatic events, paranormal attacks, yellow fever, explosions. There’s no records, only stories.’ We then follow a character played by Tiffany Haddish and a priest portrayed by Owen Wilson as they explore hidden areas of the darkly historic house with a group of kids, finding, behind a painting, a room that had ‘not been touched in centuries.’ The trailer also introduces us to a tour guide played by Lakeith Stanfield, with further flashes to characters played by Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito and more.”

Jamie Lee Curtis, set to play Madame Leota in the film, appeared onstage in a Doom Buggy during the presentation, as can be seen in these photos from IGN.

The trailer has yet to be released online by the company, but check back for this story to be updated with the video as soon as it is made publicly available.

  1. This casting still scares me except for curtis would never put her in as leota but okay. Seriously would prefer del toro over this sadly new disney does not get disney wanted scary and would have approved a horror movie for his haunted house!
