After a few appearances internationally, Ortensia has finally made her first appearance at an American Disney park for the Lunar New Year Festival 2023 at Disney California Adventure!
She wears a special costumes to celebrate the new year. Ortensia sports a gold skirt decorated with apricot, lotus, and peach flowers, which according to The Orange County Register, is inspired by the traditional Vietnamese áo dà i gown and a matching khan dong headpiece embroidered in shades of red, pink, and gold.
In the Vietnamese zodiac, 2023 marks the Year of the Cat. Of course, this year also marks the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese and Korean zodiacs, so naturally, so Oswald the Lucky Rabbit also welcome guests at the Paradise Gardens gazebo. When we visited, they were each there individually, and not available as a couple.
Oswald wears gold embroidered shorts, which feature artwork inspired by ocean waves, along with a matching hat featuring the same art.
The backdrop for the meet and greet shows new year’s greetings in Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Korean, accented by replicas of stone lion statues.
Here’s hoping his appearance brings a little more luck to our year!
