*NEW* Mango Sticky Rice – $6.49

Taro and coconut sticky rice with mango gel, toasted coconut, and fresh mango

While taro can often make itself known in sweeter, fruitier dishes, the Southeast Asian root vegetable presents itself with a more potato-like, starchy flavor in this new Lunar New Year offering. When mixed in with the sweetness of the sticky rice, the yam’s distant cousin makes this dish less sweet than you might be expecting.

A mango gel and fresh mango pieces make for a beautiful orange base on the bottom third of this treat. The sweetness from the mango gel and the fresh mangoes on the bottom help to balance out the taro and sticky rice that make the treat’s vibrant purple core. The fruit packs a punch, delivering a delicious pop of vibrant fruit flavor. The dish is topped with toasted coconut which adds an aromatic and chewy accompaniment.

Overall, this was enjoyable but it wasn’t our favorite treat from this year’s Lunar New Year celebration. Because there are so many treats being offered this year that really stand out, we’re not sure we’ll be going back for seconds on our next stop to Disney California Adventure.

The Lunar New Year festival is running from January 20 through February 15, 2023.
