Top 10 Characters Chosen for Disney100 Cast Member Name Tags Revealed at Disneyland Resort

Taking a page from the former Disney Store, Disneyland Resort is celebrating the Disney100 celebration with commemorative Cast Member name tags which allow them to share their favorite character in place of their hometown. And now we have a look into the most popular characters chosen for these special tags!

Per the Orange County Register citing Disneyland Resort officials, the most popular character of all was Stitch, one of the titular characters from the 2002 film “Lilo and Stitch.” The escaped Experiment 626-turned house pet for the chaotic home of Lilo and Nani landed as the top dog in the name tag contest. The full list is as follows:

  1. Stitch
  2. Tinker Bell
  3. Spider-Man
  4. Ariel
  5. WALL·E
  6. Mickey Mouse
  7. Belle
  8. Darth Vader
  9. Donald Duck
  10. Scarlet Witch

Cast Members who did not choose a character were given Mickey Mouse by default. Of these characters, two are from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one from Star Wars, and the rest from Disney properties. WALL·E is a particularly surprising choice considering the movie’s popularity compared to other Pixar properties like “Toy Story” and “Monsters, Inc.” He’s the only one on the top 10 list to be from a Pixar film.

Hundreds of characters were reportedly available for Cast Members to choose from, ranging from deeper cuts like Mr. Prickle Pants from “Toy Story 3” and Ian Lightfoot from “Onward” to The Mandalorian, from the Disney+ series of the same name. Cast Members did report some names being unavailable, including some of the Seven Dwarfs, as well as characters from The Muppets and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

The color scheme for the Disney100 name tags is platinum silver, white, and gray. The anniversary logo appears at the top in front of an outline of the top of Sleeping Beauty Castle. A trail of silver stars runs from the top down to the right side of the tag. The bottom reads, “Where Wonder Comes to Life.” The names of both the Cast Member and the character are in dark purple.

Cast Members will continue to wear these tags throughout 2023, although those working in Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge did not receive the opportunity to get a commemorative nametag, keeping in theme with the land’s intricate backstory. No word as of yet whether these commemorative Cast Member name tags will come to Walt Disney World after the 50th Anniversary celebration wraps on March 31.
