Imagineer Jim Shull Shares Oswald and Ortensia Attraction Blue Sky Idea

Former Imagineer Jim Shull shared an idea for an Oswald and Ortensia ride that could have replaced Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin at Disneyland.

Shull shared the idea on Twitter, calling it a “personal blue sky project.” He said it would keep the current facility and ride system but would utilize projection mapping and the 1920s sets would have been painted black and white. He called it a “low cost investment” that would deliver a “unique ride.”

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is not currently open at Disneyland but did get reimagined to make Jessica Rabbit a detective. It will reopen with the rest of Mickey’s Toontown in March. The attraction is untouched and operating at Tokyo Disneyland.

Walt Disney Animation Studios recently released their first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon in 95 years. Oswald and Ortensia are now appearing at Disney California Adventure for the Lunar New Year festival.

Walt Disney created Oswald in 1927 for Universal Pictures and he debuted in 1927 with “Trolley Troubles.” Disney created 26 Oswald short films in 1927 and 1928, before losing creative control of the character. In 2006, CEO Bob Iger made a deal with NBCUniversal to regain Oswald.
