New Disney100 Banners Listing Films and Release Dates Line Hollywood Boulevard at Disney California Adventure

Guests taking a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard in Disney California Adventure will notice some new Disney100 banners on the light posts lining the street.

Similarly to the banners that debuted last month on the Disneyland tram route, these show the name of a Disney film property in a circle in the middle with the year of the film’s release in a star at the bottom. This one honors “Steamboat Willie,” which is considered by many to be the debut of Mickey Mouse even though he technically appeared several months earlier in “Plane Crazy.” “Steamboat Willie” is the first Mickey film ever distributed and the first to feature synchronized sound.

Several of the Disney100 banners that debuted outside the parks last month listed incorrect information that has since been corrected.

Banners aren’t the only Disney100 decor that has needed to be removed or changed due to misinformation. A statue of Mickey Mouse erected in Disneyland misquoted Walt Disney before being taken down.

The banners here inside Disney California Adventure specifically honor Disney films, while the ones outside the park along the tram route honor films but also attractions and other Disney properties like Disney Cruise Line.

Another notable difference is that the date listed on these banners is found inside a silver star, mimicking the Hollywood Walk of Fame, whereas the Disney100 banners outside the park featured the date inside a Cast Member name badge.
