Chris Pine has been cast as King Magnifico in the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Wish.”
“Wish,” about the origins of the wishing star, is directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn and written by Jennifer Lee. Ariana DeBose voices the main character, Asha, and Alan Tudyk voices a talking goat named Valentino. Asha makes a wish in a moment of need and is answered by a ball of energy called Star. The two team up to save Asha’s community.
The film takes place in the magical kingdom of Rosas, which Pine’s character rules. Disney released art of King Magnifico (above). Lee said of the casting, “As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness, and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some.”
The original songs of “Wish” are created by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice, while the score is composed by Dave Metzger.
“Wish” is scheduled for release in theaters on November 22, 2023.
