Disabled ‘Rogers: The Musical’ Cast Member Moved to Tears After Seeing Hyperion Theater Marquee for the First Time

A touching clip from TikTok shared the story of a ‘Rogers: The Musical’ Cast Member and documented their experience seeing the marquee outside of the Hyperion Theater promoting the upcoming musical for the first time.

The video explains that this was the first time that this Cast Member had ever seen the marquee for ‘Rogers: The Musical’ outside of the Hyperion Theater.

Recently cast as a dancer for the musical, the former Disney parade dancer unfortunately had to leave what they described as their “dream job” due to becoming disabled. Luckily, this Cast Member is finally able to, in their own words, “come home.”

Accompanied by their best friend who also worked as a parade dancer with them, this Cast Member celebrated representation as well as the beginning of this “new chapter” by posing in front of the theater and reminding everyone that “the magic is real.”

The official @disneyparks TikTok account even took the time to leave a comment below the video, saying “We screamed with you!” to which the user replied, “Still pinching myself!” Other comments offered words of support and excitement from Cast Members and individuals with disabilities.

The marquee outside of the Hyperion Theater was updated last month to include a promotional  “Rogers: The Musical” display.

In the caption of the video above, the user refers to “I can do this all day,” a Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America quote that is displayed on parts of the marquee.

Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton from the Disney+ series, “Hawkeye” and his family watched a musical performance depicting the life of Steve Rogers in the first episode of the series.

‘Rogers: The Musical’ will employ the help of singers and dancers to tell the story of Steve Rogers – Captain America. The musical will feature Nick Fury, Peggy Carter, and select Avengers, taking “the audience on a journey from Steve’s humble beginnings during World War II to becoming Captain America, leading the Avengers and beyond. It’s a classic tale of heroes, time travel, and romance, oh … and Nick Fury sings!”

Just last month, we learned that ‘Rogers: The Musical’ at Disney California Adventure will be opening on June 30, 2023, for a limited time. Five new original songs were written just for “Rogers: The Musical” at Disneyland Resort and will be performed among familiar music, including “Save the City,” from the Disney+ series “Hawkeye;” “Star Spangled Man” from the film “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

“Rogers: The Musical”, which Disney first teased in late February, is expected to be approximately 30 minutes in length with showtimes Tuesday through Saturday most weeks. We expect further details on the merchandise and food and beverage offerings themed to “Rogers: The Musical” to be shared as we approach the opening day.
