‘Finding Nemo’ Slide, Splash Pad, and Pool Opening Tomorrow at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel as Part of Pixar Place Retheming

Paradise Pool at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen as Pixel Pool this week, as part of the hotel’s transformation into Pixar Place Hotel. The area has been re-themed to Pixar’s “Finding Nemo,” as we saw in concept art released last year.

Nemo’s Cove

Disney stated in the comments of an Instagram video that overnight guests will be able to enjoy the Nemo’s Cove water play area beginning tomorrow, August 1. The area includes a Hank-inspired pop-jet splash pad.

The video shows a Cast Member cruising down the water slide, which has become Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, with a figure of Crush on the wavy roof.

The lawn chairs and benches around Pixel Pool are bright shades of blue, red, and yellow — the colors of the iconic Pixar ball.

The hotel has remained open as it is slowly reimagined, with a Pixar-themed lobby unveiled back in May. Pixar concept art was installed in a breakfast café. A “Luca” mural is by the elevator bay.

The full Pixar Place transformation is set to be completed this winter.

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel has gone through many changes over the years, and was not a Disneyland Resort property until 1995, when it became the Disneyland Pacific Hotel. Just before Disney California Adventure (at the time Disney’s California Adventure Park) opened in 2001, the hotel swapped names again to reflect the Paradise Pier area it was now located behind. When Paradise Pier became Pixar Pier in 2018, it seemed only a matter of time before another modification would be in the works.

Seemingly unrelated to the Pixar retheme, the hotel will unveil a new restaurant, Great Maple, this fall. This Southern California-based modern American eatery specializes in playful takes on upscale comfort food. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, the ground-floor restaurant will be open to the public.
