On Saturday, Hurricane Hilary weakened from a Category 4 with maximum wind speeds of 145 mph down to a Category 2 with 110 mph winds. It is expected to make landfall as a tropical storm on Saturday night or early Sunday morning. There will likely be significant flooding and power outages through Monday.

A tropical storm has not made landfall in Southern California since September 25, 1939. No hurricane has ever made landfall in the State of California during recorded history.
