The latest nighttime spectacular, Wondrous Journeys, had its final performance on August 31, but many fans believed it was only leaving to make way for the seasonal Halloween and Christmastime performances. Now, sources suggest that the positively received new show is currently not set to return anytime soon, but instead, Disneyland Forever will be coming back to the skies above Disneyland Park.
Wondrous Journeys debuted in January 2023 as part of the Disney100 celebrations at Disneyland Resort. The show featured exclusively films from the Walt Disney Studios (meaning no Pixar, Star Wars, etc.). It includes elements from every Walt Disney Animation Studios movie to date, from “Snow White” to “Strange World.”
The show utilized pyrotechnics, including 50-foot flames, though some of those effects were removed or altered due to damages and precautions after the Fantasmic! dragon burned down nearby. Projections could be seen on Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Main Street, U.S.A. facades, and the facade of “it’s a small world.”
It also had a unique twist on a Disneyland fireworks show staple: rather than Tinker Bell, Baymax from “Big Hero 6” took to the skies.
The Disneyland Forever nighttime spectacular was introduced for the 60th anniversary of Disneyland in 2015. The show has seen a couple “final” performances, but the most recent was billed as the end of a limited time run. Now, it seems it will make another return to Disneyland Park in 2024.

It is unknown exactly when Disneyland Forever will return, but it should be some time in very early 2024 after the final performance of “Believe… In Holiday Magic” with the conclusion of the Holidays at Disneyland Resort happening on January 7th, 2024.
As per usual, the above information has not yet been confirmed by Disneyland Resort and could certainly change given enough feedback from guests, but as of right now, Wondrous Journeys is going into the Disneyland fireworks show vault for a bit.
