Guests visiting the Downtown Disney District on November 24 were treated to a picturesque snowfall, the first ever seen in the retail and dining area. The scenic holiday squall will now occur in the District each evening through December 31.
Snow Falls For First Time in Downtown Disney District
The snowfall takes place in the area near Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, and Tortilla Jo’s. It occurs every half hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Downtown Disney District is transformed into a winter wonderland as snow gently falls atop the festive décor. While the night sky is partially illuminated by lights positioned on the roofs of surrounding buildings, the snowfall isn’t as much a show as it is a general dusting. There are no significant lighting or sound effects.
The Downtown Disney District is not the only area in Disneyland Resort that receives a nightly snowfall throughout the holiday season, as the effect also occurs in select areas of Disneyland Park each evening.

Downtown Disney District is currently in the midst of a years-long reimagining. A recently revealed stage opened in the new Parkside Market area of the District in mid-November. Parkside Market will ultimately include Seoul Sister, Sip & Sonder, GG’s Chicken Shop, and a second-story bar.
Other future plans for the District include Din Tai Fung, a world-renowned Chinese restaurant known for its soup dumplings and noodles, Mexican cuisine by Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán at Paseo and Céntrico, and the California-Cuban cheese rolls and pastries from Porto’s Bakery and Café.
In May, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock announced an 18-month completion timeframe for the Downtown Disney District reimagining, which roughly sees it completed by the end of 2024.
When it comes to holiday celebrations, guests can celebrate with Disney Festival of Holidays, Viva Navidad!, and “World of Color – Season of Light” at Disney California Adventure. A Christmas Fantasy Parade and “Believe…In Holiday Magic” will be performed at Disneyland Park.
